There would be many who won’t be aware of the meaning of Dementia. Before starting with the review, I would like to tell you !
Dementia is a general term for loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that are severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia.
Dementia care for a loved one walks the fine line between knowing it won't last forever and the absolute horror that the final outcome is death. The beginning is unforeseen, but the end is inevitable.
Diagnosis Dementia-Prognosis Hope is a touching memoir of a mother-daughter journey through their journey with Dementia, made all the worse with the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic.
These stories capture the daily struggles, the momentary joys, and the complex challenges that compound the caregiving effort. Judith Kay speaks from the heart, sculpting each situation into hope-giving inspiration.
Seasoned with just the right amount of humor, this book is a must-read for caregivers, children of Dementia patients, and anyone who finds themselves involved with memory-challenged loved ones.
Dementia is not an individual struggle. It is a family disease affecting every facet of daily living. Judith Kay presents an inspirational glimpse into the day-to-day memory-challenged world she navigated with her mother, unprepared, untrained, and overwhelmed. Each story stands alone, yet simultaneously intertwines with the past, all the while foreshadowing what is yet to come.
This was the most heart wrenching read of this year. The bond, the memories lasts forever. The author has beautifully woven the feelings and the care required for Dementia patients, how difficult the situation is for not only the patient but also for the family.
Rating: 10/10
